About Dr. Hidalgo
Dr. Rosario Hidalgo is a board certified psychiatrist with special interest in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders. A native of Argentina, she received her medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires in 1991. Before coming to the US she was a board certified psychiatrist in Buenos Aires. Upon relocating to the US in 1998 she took all the necessary steps to be certified as a physician to practice in the US. She worked as a researcher at Duke University Medical Center for four years. She subsequently completed her psychiatry residency at Duke University Medical Center. Additionally she completed fellowship in psychopharmacology. Prior to founding Tampa Comprehensive Psychiatry, she was an Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida from 2006 to 2012. At USF she was the Director of the Depression and Anxiety Research Institute, a center conducting clinical research and treating patients with anxiety and mood disorders. Dr. Hidalgo has maintained an active participation in clinical research participating in cutting edge clinical trials for new medications in the treatment of depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. She also worked at the Students Counseling Center at the University of South Florida working with undergraduate and graduate students experiencing mental health difficulties while attending school.

· Student mental health (undergraduate and graduate)
· Mindfulness based stress reduction approach
· Mental health disparities in the Hispanic and other underserved populations
Dr. Hidalgo’s approach:
Dr. Hidalgo provides comprehensive evaluations and evidence based treatments. She likes to take her time with her patients to be able to attend to each person's individual needs. Ideally, she likes to establish an active partnership with her patients, so that they can work together on the specific treatment goals. Dr. Hidalgo welcomes family members to be part of the “treatment team”, if the patient is agreeable with it. This is particularly important in the first few visits. Dr. Hidalgo is a firm believer in the fact that information is power and strives to provide education about mental health issues and their treatments to patients and families involved in the therapeutic process.
She sees patients age 17-69 years old.
